Candlelight Vigil For Julia Niswender

Bob Eccles

About 200 people attended a candlelight vigil Friday night at the Lakehouse at Eastern Michigan University for Julia Niswender, the EMU junior found dead in her off-campus apartment Tuesday night.  Friends and family took turns speaking about the 23 year-old and what they'll miss most about her.

Ypsilanti police are investigating Niswender's death as a "possible homicide".  Preliminary autopsy results were inconclusive and more tests will be conducted to determine the cause of death.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Rupp Funeral Home in Monroe.  Visitation at the funeral home is scheduled for 2pm to 8pm Saturday and Noon to 8pm Sunday.   The funeral for Julia Niswender will be held Monday at 11am at Redeemer Fellowship Church in Monroe.
