Eastern Michigan University cancels all classes on Tuesday, Jan. 28

Sub-zero temperatures and  frigid wind chills have once again forced school districts throughout the region, including Eastern Michigan University, to cancel classes on Tuesday, Jan. 28

To Students, Faculty and Staff: Due to the extreme cold temperatures, which are forecast to worsen overnight, Eastern Michigan University is canceling all classes on Tuesday, Jan. 28. This includes all planned campus activities, lectures and events. The University will be open on Wednesday, Jan. 29 for regular business and classes. Due to the 24/7 nature of some campus operations, certain designated personnel such as heating plant, physical plant, food service, public safety, WEMU and other employees within specific areas of the University may be required to work. Employees who are required to work will be notified by their supervisors. All other employees should remain at home in accordance with the Eastern Michigan University Weather Policy and applicable collective bargaining agreement at http://www.emich.edu/hr/employeerelations/contracts.php. During the period of closure, all employees are expected to check the University closure website and other media sources to receive updates regarding the closure and reopening of campus. For the benefit of students in residence halls, campus dining/food service will be available at The Commons, Eastern Eateries and CrossRoads MarketPlace. University leaders are closely monitoring the situation, and we will communicate additional information as warranted.
