A prominent Ypsilanti Attorney will seek to fill the vacancy being created by the retirement of U-S Representative John Dingell. Democrat Raymond Mullins has announced his candidacy for the 12th District Congressional seat that’s been held by the 87-year old Dingell for nearly 60-years.
Mullins most notably served as President of the Ypsilanti-Willow Run Branch of the NAACP from 1987-1998. He has been practicing law in Washtenaw County for 40-years.
In a press release, Mullins says the primary purpose of his candidacy is to “increase the educational opportunities for all Americans."
Mullins will face Debbie Dingellin the August 5th Democratic primary election. She is the wife of John Dingell.
