The internet provides a powerful tool for students tying to learn, but can also pose big security risks. Officials with Google brought their "Good to Know SchoolRoadshow" to Clague Middle School Thursday to help students avoid dangerous online behavior.

Google spokesperson Jamie Hill thinks one simple tip can help kids avoid big problems.

According to Hill students are also encouraged to think before they share anything online, and were shown ways to avoid scams.  Hill adds another important lesson is to be positive online and treat others well.

Like many, I first came to this area when I started school at the University of Michigan, then fell in love with the community and haven’t left. After graduating from U of M in the mid 1990’s I interned at WDET for several years, while also working a variety of jobs in Ann Arbor. Then in 1999 I joined the WEMU news team.
