A proposed apartment building for active adults highlights a growing number of developments planned for Ann Arbor.

Planning Manager Wendy Rampson says the commission typically gets two or three projects per month for review.  Ten plans came in last month, and several more have already come in this month.  She thinks this is the product of the improving economy.  A mix of proposals have been submitted including multi-family residential, an expansion of a school, and gas stations.

The Ann Arbor Saline Road proposal is for 75 units and exercise facilities on about five acres near the intersection with Main Street.  It also includes a regional storm water detention facility to help lessen flooding concerns in the area.

Like many, I first came to this area when I started school at the University of Michigan, then fell in love with the community and haven’t left. After graduating from U of M in the mid 1990’s I interned at WDET for several years, while also working a variety of jobs in Ann Arbor. Then in 1999 I joined the WEMU news team.
