County Election Commission approved recall language this week.

Efforts to recall an Ann Arbor City Council member will more than likely end up in front of a judge. Homeless individuals and their advocates are seeking to remove Third Ward Representative, Stephen Kunselman, for pushing to remove a tent community from a wooded area in southeast Ann Arbor.

The County's Election Commission approved the recall language, but Kunselman is expected to appeal the decision, citing a lack of clarity and accuracy in the petitions. If the language is upheld, nearly 2,000 signatures need to be collected from third ward residents by January 30, 2015. Director of Elections, Ed Golembiewski, stated January 30th is the deadline for getting the issue on the ballot in May. Golembiewski asserted "the only election this year that a recall could occur is on the May ballot."

Kunselman would be on the ballot as the Democratic candidate versus any Republican or Independent challengers, if the language is approved, and enough signatures collected.
