Eastern Michigan University has joined the drive to help Flint residents.
From now until February 12, Ypsilanti residents can drop off bottled water at EMU’s Student Center and other locations.
The EMU Eagles have volunteered to take the donated water to Flint’s Brennan Senior Center and the American Red Cross of Genesee County. Football teammates Tre’Shown Fields and Jeremy Hickey are both helping with the effort.
Fields says he's happy to help the community in Flint, "because obviously they need it, so I’m glad that we’re able to be a part of that.”
Hickey says his relatives live near Flint and the water crisis has affected many friends of his family.
He says,
"Any way I can help all the people [in Flint] is always nice."
Bottled water can be dropped off at donations sites in Ypsilanti until February 12.
