June Is PTSD Awareness Month And The VA Hospital In Ann Arbor Is Helping

WikiCommons

June is Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Awareness Month.  The VA Hospital in Ann Arbor is offering help to those in need.

Treatments include therapy and medication.  With an average of 22 veterans committing suicide a day, getting help is essential.

Dr. Erin Smith is the chief of the PTSD clinic at the VA Hospital in Ann Arbor.  She says the hospital offers a program called Coaching Into Care.

"You can call and you can actually speak to a mental health provider as a family member and ask questions and explain the situation and receive some guidance on how you can help engage that veteran in care."

For more information on the Coaching Into Care hotline, click here.  There is also a Veterans Crisis Line that you can call for help, to access that click here.
