Ann Arbor's South University Area is getting some improvements.
The city's Downtown Development Authority has revealed a $2.1-million plan to overhaul three blocks along South University Avenue. Susan Pollay is the DDA's director. She says the current design dates back to the 1980s, and the existing trees in the area are dying and need to be replaced.
"It's intended to be much more maintenance-free than the current infrastructure, which will make it look cleaner. It'll look like it's better attended."
Pollay says construction on the project will run from late spring to early fall of next year.
