A charter amendment proposal to renew a sidewalk repair and bridge construction millage will appear on the ballot next week in Ann Arbor.

Voters will be asked if they want to continue with the 2.12 millage through the year 2021.  It would raise over $11 million next year that would also be used for residential road repairs.

Council member Chip Smithfrom the 5th ward explains how much it would cost homeowners.

"For a property with a taxable value of $107,000, that is a $225 a year assessment."

If the millage is not approved, Council may have to consider making cuts somewhere in their budget to pay for the projects.
