Art & Soul: The Art of Better Living - Joy, Inc.
The business value of joy.
Richard Sheridan is the owner of Menlo Innovations in Ann Arbor and the author of a book called "Joy, Inc." He started working as a computer programmer before he could even drive a car back in the early '70s. He got a couple of degrees in computer science and computer engineering at the University of Michigan and settled in the area which he says is a great area to run a software business.
He talks about what lead him to write the book "Joy, Inc." He also talks about what it takes to build an intentionally joyful culture and taking a different approach to running a business that gives employees satisfaction.
Sheridan says we want to see the work of our hearts and hands and minds get out into the world whether it's a product or a service and have others be delighted in what we do.
He also says he thinks "when we have that vision on something meaningful and important down the road we can work through the tough the tougher times to get through that joyful outcome that we're hoping for."
He says people are looking for tangible examples to see "where can I get to joy? What could I do to get to that point?"
Richard Sheridan says the joy in work leads to the joy in life.
He will be discussing his latest book as part of the Zingtrain speaker series next month.
