November 2016 Washtenaw County Election Briefs: Other Races Of Interest

Several other races were decided in Washtenaw County. 

University of Michigan Board of Regents (Voting tabulation incomplete):

With 80 of 83 counties reporting, as of this writing, the two incumbents on the University of Michigan Board of Regents are in danger of losing their positions.  Democrats Denise Illitch and Larry Deitch currently trail Republicans Carl Meyers and Ron Weiser with three counties remaining to be tabulated. 

Washtenaw Community College Board of Trustees:

There will be two new faces on the Washtenaw Community College Board of Trustees.  Angela Davis and William Milliken have won six-year terms on the board.  Incumbent Dilip Das finished fifth in the voting. 

Ann Arbor District Library Board:

Three of the four newly-elected members of the Ann Arbor District Library Board will be serving their first terms.  Colleen Sherman, Victoria Green, and Linh Song join incumbent Jamie Vander Broek for four-year terms. 

Northfield Township Library Board:

The four non-write-in candidates seeking election to the Northfield Township Library Board have won.  Incumbents Margaret Nelock and Meg Minnich will serve another four years alongside Jack Secrist and Jack Hinckley, Jr. 

Justice of the Michigan Supreme Court:

Justice Joan Larsen has won a two-year term on the Michigan Supreme Court.  The former law professor defeated Wayne County Judge Deborah Thomas and another candidate.  Larsen will fill the two years remaining in the term of a justice who resigned in 2015.  Governor Rick Snyder appointed her a year ago.  Larsen earlier worked as a law clerk to late U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia
