Bassist Paul Keller is beloved word-wide whether touring with John Pizzarelli, appearing at festivals in California, Canada or Monaco or recording in the finest studios.
WEMU was able to snag Paul for an hour to hang out in our studio as a Guest DJ for our 40 Years of Jazz celebration. Paul brought in his favorite Oscar Peterson, Nat King Cole, Ella Fitzgerald, Duke Ellington and Louis Armstrong albums and shared thoughts on the swinging magic within the album covers. Of course, he shared warm stories about his musical mentors, friendships and inspirations. Paul will share more stories on Monday, October 30th and great music when The Paul Keller Orchestra and The Southeastern Michigan Jazz Association team up at The Zal Gaz Grotto in Ann Arbor to honor WEMU’s 40 Years of Jazz.
