The water is safe, the "boil water advisory" has been lifted and work is underway today to fix the road damaged by a water-main break, earlier this week.
A boil water advisory for a small portion of Pittsfield Township has been lifted. A water-main break earlier this week created the possibility of water contamination for a very limited number of Township businesses in the area of Packard and Carpenter Roads. Craig Lyon is the Township’s Director of Utilities and Municipal Services. He says the main was fixed on Monday and, as of this morning, all tests have come back cleat and the water is safe for consumption, once again.
The other impact of the water-main break will take a little longer to rectify. The volume of water released when the main broke caused significant pavement damage on Westbound Packard Road at the intersection of Carpenter Road. Lyon says crews are removing damaged pavement this morning, and a contractor is on standby to pour some quick-cure concrete later today. Once the new concrete has been poured, he says it will take 36-to-48 to dry sufficiently enough to re-open the westbound lanes of Packard at Carpenter.
