What's Next For Ypsilanti's Former Mayor Amanda Edmonds Now That She Is No Longer In Office

Amanda Edmonds

A new year brings a new path for Ypsilanti's outgoing mayorAmanda Edmonds.  Deciding not to run for another term, Edmonds was replaced by Beth Bashertas the city's new mayor after winning the recent November election.

89.1 WEMU's Lisa Barry spoke with Edmonds about her four-year term as mayor of Ypsilanti and what she plans to do next.

Edmonds says she didn't really feel free to share everything she wanted to as mayor and felt "silenced" by the good 'ole boys network, which she says is surprisingly going strong as we enter 2019.  But she did say she was proud of many improvements she oversaw as mayor of Ypsilanti, including bringing new businesses to long vacant buildings.

Edmonds says she's still thinking about everything that happened during her term as mayor and is doing some consulting work statewide on food systems and food policy.
