This week, "Art and Soul" is about the local visual arts community. 89.1 WEMU's Lisa Barry is joined by state and local arts leader Omari Rush and the art coordinator at the Kerrytown Concert House, Nancy Wolfe, about a visual arts exhibit currently on display there.

About the "Emerge/Re-emerge" Exhibit
Nancy Wolfe is the art/gallery coordinator for the performance venue, Kerrytown Concert House. Their current exhibition, which has an opening on August 11, is a collaboration with a senior living facility in Detroit called the Hannan Center, a senior living facility on Woodward in Midtown. They have art classes there and they also have an art gallery in the space. The people showing work at Kerrytown are artists who live at Hannan and show their work in their gallery. This exhibition represents them expanding their footprint and making more connections.

Upcoming Visual Arts Events:
- New mural celebrating regional culture going up in collaboration with Tree Town Murals and Destination Ann Arbor.
- Youth Arts Alliance month-long art exhibition at Cultivate in Ypsilanti (Youth Arts Alliance engages folks with arts who are in the juvenile detention system...they got a grant to expand their work from the community foundation.
