March Marks Start Of MLK Week At EMU
To kick off this year's Martin Luther King Jr.'s week of celebration, Eastern Michigan hosted a march Thursday afternoon on campus. 89.1 WEMU's Jorge Avellan was there and has the story.
About 230 people marched from the MLK Garden on campus to the Student Center. Student Jasmine Embry took part in the march to not only honor Dr. King but to keep his legacy and work alive.
“Racism is still alive, sexism is still alive. I feel that by doing stuff like this, I feel like it definitely helps in saying, we still stand up for what Dr. King and them stand for,” Embry says.
