The City of Ann Arbor has a better idea on what a COVID-19 financial recovery plan will look like.
The interim city administrator informed city council during a work session that they can expect to see a $4.8 million shortfall in the general fund for fiscal year 2020, and a $9.8 million loss for 2021. As a result, Council Member Chip Smithfrom the fifth ward says $825,000 in discretionary funds will have to be eliminated for 2020.
"The big ticket item there that wouldn’t get funded and would be put off would be the update of the city’s master plan."
The city’s water fund is expected to see a $2 million shortfall for fiscal year 2020 and a $2.7 million drop for 2021. That’s expected to impact plans to update thewater treatment plant.
