The Ann Arbor Ypsilanti Regional Chamber says businesses in downtown Ann Arbor are getting ready to welcome customers back this fall as University of Michigan football games resume once again.
Andy LaBarre is the executive vice-president of the chamber and says businesses are stocking up on personal protective equipment and creating additional signage to remind customers about safety guidelines. The chamber is keeping businesses updated on what those guidelines are by posting information on its website. LaBarre says the chamber expects sales to double at local businesses once the football games start broadcasting next month.
Andy LaBarre: Even if restaurants are just doing takeout, the football games will give an obvious reason for people to frankly sort of follow a somewhat normal routine. So, even if you’re just at home with your family you might be more inclined to get pizza and beers or something like that, from your local group pub.
LaBarre says the football games will also help keep businesses open that have been financially affected because of the pandemic.
