More and more students from the University of Michigan are studying abroad. For the second year in a row, U of M has seen an increase of fifteen percent of students studying overseas. And with the recent terrorist attacks in Paris France, the university is more alert than ever to make sure their students are safe.
James Holloway, Vice Provost for Global and Engaged Education says the university made contact within two hours of the attacks with the 19 students, faculty and staff members currently in France. Holloway added that the university has an employee who focuses on safety issues around the world to also ensure student safety.
As of now, U of M does not plan to ask students, faculty or staff to come back home because they say the situation has been normalized in Paris.
