The midterm election will prove to be  "a win" for the environment. That according to the executive director of the Michigan League of Conservation Voters. In Part 1 of this week's "Issues of the Environment," Lisa Wozniak joined WEMU's David Fair to offer her thoughts on election results.

The official statement from the Michigan League of Conservation Voters , issued late Tuesday evening:

Ann Arbor, MI- Lisa Wozniak, executive director of the Michigan League of Conservation Voters (Michigan LCV) issued the following statement today as Gretchen Whitmer was announced governor-elect, defeating her Republican opponent Bill Schuette.

“Tonight, voters across the state sent a clear, unmistakable message: they want a ‘green’ governor who will stand up to special interests, clean up our drinking water and protect our Great Lakes for future generations to enjoy,” said Lisa Wozniak, executive director of Michigan LCV. “We’re ready to work with governor-elect Gretchen Whitmer and state lawmakers to ensure that every Michigander has clean, safe, affordable drinking water.”

Under the banner #OurWaterOurVote, Michigan LCV made the organization’s largest-ever investment in a gubernatorial election and focused on electing clean water champions up-and-down the ticket. The organization’s $3.4M program knocked on over 300,000 doors and reached over 500,000 voters through targeted digital ads and text messaging.
