Ann Arbor District Library Launches New Black Lives Matter Initiative

Jun 23, 2020

The Ann Arbor District Library has launched a Black Lives Matter initiative.

The initiative kicks off with a Black Lives Matter Zoom series Tuesday evening at 6 pm.  A library employee will lead a discussion about a book called “So You Want to Talk About Race.”  Josie Parker is the library’s director and says a second discussion will be held on Thursday at the same time but will focus on another book about race.

Josie Parker: I think the library’s goal is for individuals to come together and discuss a topic that is not easily discussed, is often very fraught and scary.

The Black Lives Matter initiative will also feature artwork by black artists that will be displayed outside the library later this year.  For more information on the Zoom discussion series, visit the library’s website.
