Did you know you can still check out books online from the Ann Arbor District Library? WEMU's Lisa Barry talks with library director Josie Parker about the many offerings the library has created, including its own YouTube TV station to stay connected with area residents.
Although all their branches are closed due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Ann Arbor District Library has been working hard to keep us connected and amused.
They created their own YouTube channel, AADLTV, where there are storytimes, games, and other forms of entertainment. Parker says they are also organizing Zoom gatherings, where people can connect with their dogs, cats, and babies!
She says they are now making it possible to obtain virtual library cards online, and then people can download books and movies for free.
They have gone online with their popular "Summer Game," which they are now calling "Bummer Game," with hopes people can collect prizes earned this summer. Parker says they are eager to reopen once the order to stay home is lifted and are looking for ways to better clean libraries and keep people safe and healthy moving forward.
