The weekend street closures in Ann Arbor that provided additional outdoor space for businesses during COVID-19 have ended.
The closures were scheduled to end on November 30th, but, as temperatures start to drop, the downtown shopping districts decided to end the program early on November 8th. Maura Thomson is the communications manager for the Ann Arbor Downtown Development Authority and says consumers still have options when it comes to dining outdoors.
Maura Thomson: A lot of our downtown businesses are using the Repurposed Parking Space Program to extend patios. So, quite a few of the restaurants still have their sidewalk cafes extended to parking spaces. So, there is still quite a bit of outdoor space available downtown.
The Repurposed Parking Space Program is scheduled to end December 1st.
