Issues of the Environment: Ecology Center study finds PFAS in rainwater in Ann Arbor and Southeast Michigan
PFAS contamination has already been a significant concern. Now, there may be reason to add to the worry. A study funded by the Ann Arbor-based Ecology Center finds there is an array of PFAS chemical profiles in rainwater falling over Ann Arbor and Southeast Michigan. WEMU's David Fair spoke with the center’s Erica Bloom about the findings and what it means to the environment and public health.

creative:impact - Strings attached: The art of marionettes
Marionettes are considered the finest form of puppetry. A beloved art form, especially among children across the world, marionettes have a special local legacy in Saline. The Bixby Marionette Collection is the subject of a new book, and John Anderson from the City of Saline's Arts and Culture Committee joins Deb Polich to talk about the authors and Meredith Bixby’s legacy on this edition of "creative:impact."

#OTGYpsi: Ypsilanti's Chidester Place developing programming to make more welcoming atmosphere for its residents
Chidester Place Apartments in Ypsilanti houses numerous senior citizens and people with disabilities. A number of those residents are unable to leave the facility, which can make their lives lonely and difficult. Chidester resident and community activist Emy Deshotel is working on programming for Chidester Place that creates a more welcoming and enjoyable community. She talks about her efforts and the organizations that have been helping her with Concentrate reporter Sarah Rigg.

#OTGYpsi: EMU's STEM Ed Institute to forge new paths for students in Washtenaw County school districts
STEM Education is getting a boost in Washtenaw County. Earlier this year, Eastern Michigan University, Ypsilanti Community Schools, and Lincoln Consolidated Schools established the Institute for STEM Education, Outreach, and Workforce Development. The Institute will provide STEM-related educational resources to help create greater interest in STEM careers among young students in Washtenaw County. To learn more about what it aims to accomplish, Concentrate Media's Rylee Barnsdale sat down with the Institute's director, Dr. Sibrina Collins.

Issues of the Environment: Washtenaw County continues work to increase electronics recycling
America sure loves its electronics! The technologies continue to improve and there can be no question; it has made life more convenient. However, these items contain a number of contaminants and are an environmental hazard. WEMU's David Fair talked with Washtenaw County’s Director of Public Works, Theo Eggermont about increased efforts to recycle used electronics.
