Today is Veterans Day. We take occasion to remember those who have served to ensure our freedom and liberty. Locally, there are a couple of events scheduled today.
The V-A Ann Arbor Healthcare System on Fuller road will host its annual Veterans Day Event today. It gets underway at 9:30 this morning and is free and open to the public.
The University of Michigan is conducting a number of Veterans Day events. It begins at eight this morning with a flag raising on the Central Campus Diag. At ten, a World War Two Veterans panel will be held in the Kuenzel room of the Michigan Union. At one this afternoon. A student Veterans panel will be held at that same location. A flag lowering ceremony at the Diag will be held at five this afternoon.
Concordia University is hosting its 6th annual Veterans Day Celebration. A chapel service honoring veterans will be held at 10:30 at the Chapel of Holy Trinity. The service will be followed at 11am by lunch for veterans and people in uniform in the student union.
Eastern Michigan University will be holding a reception for Student, Staff and Faculty veterans on Thursday of this week. The event takes place from 3-5pm on Thursday in room 300 of the Student Center. Additionally, the Michigan Theater will offer free admission today to all regular film screenings for veterans and active personnel.
