Washtenaw County Commissioners Chair Thinks Snyder's Budget Proposal Based on Election Year

The chair of the Washtenaw County Commissioners Yousef Rabhi believes Governor Rick Snyder's budget proposal is a reflection that this is an election year.

The governor released his budget proposal Wednesday, the same day the County Commissioners passed a resolution calling for some of the state's projected surplus be committed to road maintenance.

Rabhi thinks funds are needed for education and local governments, but the roads are clearly a pressing need as well.  He says with the amount of salt, freezing, and plowing that has already taken place this winter roads will need a lot of work in Spring.  However he feels funds are also needed for education and local government.

Rabhi hopes Synder's proposed increases to revenue sharing are approved by the state legislature.  He notes that cuts in previous years however are still greater than the proposed increase.
