Meet The Ann Arbor School Board Candidate: Roland Zullo
The Ann Arbor School Board will have a new look after next month's election. Ten Candidates are running for four seats on the board. While I will be interviewing all of the candidates, Roland Zullo is the focus of today's report.
Disappointment in how Ann Arbor Schools dealt with their custodians and teacher negotiations prompted RolandZullo to run for school board. He's looking for shared sacrifices in handling budget challenges but thinks too much of the burden has fallen on the lowest paid employees in the district.
The University of Michigan assistant research scientist believes his work experience can help. "An export in labor relations and I think that one of the things that I'd like to see happen at Ann Arbor is labor relations to improve between teachers and the administration, and I think I can help with that," Zullo says.
Zullo also wants to see if some work that is currently contracted for couldn't be brought back in for district staff to handle. He's concerned pay to participate fees have left some students unable to get everything possible from Ann Arbor schools.
