Ann Arbor officials won't have to try to find a new City Administrator at this time after all.

Steve Powers has withdrawn his name from consideration to become the next City Manager for Dublin, Ohio. Powers was a finalist for the position, but told WEMU the selection process was taking too long. "Dublin City Council wasn't reaching consensus on a candidate to become their City Manager. I felt it was becoming increasingly unfair to the Ann Arbor City Council and to the organization," Powers says.

Powers says he isn't seeking a new job but was recruited for the position in Ohio.

Mayor Christopher Taylor is delighted Powers will be staying. He says Powers does a great job and has the respect of council, staff, and the community.

Like many, I first came to this area when I started school at the University of Michigan, then fell in love with the community and haven’t left. After graduating from U of M in the mid 1990’s I interned at WDET for several years, while also working a variety of jobs in Ann Arbor. Then in 1999 I joined the WEMU news team.
