Residents Want A Mass Transit System That Operates Seven Days A Week

A public forum was held at Eastern Michigan University's College of Business to get input on a new mass transit system that will be developed by the Regional Transit Authority of Southeast Michigan.

Residents were shown renderings of buses and light rail systems that could be used for the project and asked for their feedback.

The RTA would transport commuters from cities such as Detroit to Ann Arbor.

In addition to wanting a system that operates seven days a week, some residents like Chris Spears want to make sure the RTA puts a stop at Metro Airport.  He believes it would be a big help when you can't get a ride to the airport or don't want to pay too  much for a cab.

“That would help out drastically. Sometimes getting a ride from someone or getting a cab [can be problematic]. This would give people a third option.”

In Washtenaw County, the proposed transit system would run along Michigan Avenue.
