The University of Michigan Board of Regents will decide on millions of dollars in improvements to the University Health System when it meets later this week.

The biggest improvement involves a nearly $7 million accelerator for the hospital's Radiation Oncology department.  The plan includes an upgraded treatment room, and the new technology will offer patient improvements, convenience, and safety.

Improvements to power plant systems and boiler upgrades are also on the agenda for regent approval.  If approved, the changes will increase boiler operating efficiency and reliability at the U-M health system.

Overall, there are $11 million in medical facility improvements up for a vote when the U-M regents meet on Thursday.
