November 2018 Elections: School Board Races In Washtenaw County

 Ann Arbor Public Schools Board of Education:

Only two incumbents will return to the Ann Arbor School Board. Susan Baskett and Jessica Kelly both won re-election.
 
 
 
 

Bryan L. Johnson and Rebecca Lazarus will take the places of Christine Stead and Patricia Ashford Manley. They will serve for four years terms and lead the helm of the 5th largest school district in Michigan with an annual budget of about $215 million and a staff of about 1,500 full-time employees, including about 1,100 teachers. 

Chelsea Area Schools Board of Education:  

James Parry Eyster and Keri Poulter have won their bids to serve on the Chelsea School Board. They garnered 26 and 29 percent of the vote, respectively. They are replacing outgoing incumbents Anne Mann and Gregory Rhodes.

Dexter Community Schools Board of Education:

One Incumbent Wins In Dexter Community Schools Board Of Education Race

Some new and familiar faces will appear on the Dexter Community Schools Board Of Education. Incumbent Dick Lundy Was first elected to the board in 1979. With Tuesday’s win he’ll serve another six years. Robert Mitzel was appointed to the school board after the departure of Bonnie Everdeen. This was Mitzel’s first election run he lost to Mara Greatorex and finished in third in a contest for two available seats.

Lincoln Consolidated Schools Board of Education:

Incumbents Win Re-election in Lincoln Consolidated Schools Board of Education Race

It’s six more years on the Lincoln Consolidated school board for Yoline Williams and Connie Marie Newlon. The incumbents fought off a challenge from Darrel Kirby to win the two available seats on the board. Williams presently serves as school board president.

Manchester Community Schools Board of Education:

Voters Return Two of Three Incumbents To Manchester Community Schools Board of Education

Two of the three incumbents running for re-election to the Manchester Community Schools Board of Education have won r-election. Challenger Michael Tindall sought to take one of the board chairs and defeated Kim Blumenstein. Incumbents Rebecca Harvey, Michael Austin will all serve four more years.

Saline Area Schools Board of Education:

Voters have chosen two new members to serve on the Saline Area Schools Board of Education. Jennifer Steben and Susan Estep were both elected, earning 22 and 24 percent of the vote respectively. Incumbent Scott Hummel was defeated. He only received 15 percent.

Ypsilanti Community Schools Board of Education:
 
Celeste Hawkins, Ellen Champagne, and Gillian Ream Gainsley won their seats on the school board, earning roughly 24, 19, and 17 percent respectively.
