Reader Comments To Be Eliminated From MLive Online Stories Soon

MLive

After each story it posts on its MLive.com website experience, readers have room to write comments... until February 20th, 2020.  That is when MLive will permanently close the comment section following its articles.

WEMU's Lisa Barry talks with the Vice President of MLive Media Group, John Hiner, about the decision.

The local online news service MLive announced, effective February 20th, it will permanently close the comment section on its articles.

Hiner says comment sections have been a fixture at the end of articles since the early 2000's and, at one point, were a vital part of their efforts to engage reader in the work they are doing.  But he added, "Things have changed, and they need to change as well."
