Local Organization Helping Seniors Grow Food At Home

Growing Hope in Ypsilanti is offering a “Home Vegetable Garden Program” to senior citizens during the COVID-19 crisis.

The goal is to provide tools to seniors in order for them to start growing produce at home.  That includes delivering and installing garden beds.  Cynthia VanRenterghem is the executive director for Growing Hope.

"Being able to again, supplement your pantry with food that you can get right from your backyard, and reduce the amount of public interaction you have, that definitely will make a difference."

The program also offers large pots for container gardening for seniors who don’t have a yard at home.
