Washtenaw County Road Commission Board To Expand

Washtenaw County

The Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners is expected to appoint two new commissioners Wednesday night to the Board of the Washtenaw County Road Commission.

The road commission will expand from three to five members.  Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners Chair Jason Morgan says the goal is to have more geographic representation on the road commission so projects can reflect the needs of the entire county.

Commissioner Jason Morgan: We have one person in southwest Washtenaw County, one person sort of northwest, and then one person on the northeast side. But we haven’t had anybody from, particularly a couple of our two largest townships, Pittsfield or Ypsilanti Township.

The new commissioners will serve on the road commission through the end of the year, but after that, they could be reappointed until the year 2025.
