The Washtenaw Intermediate School District will start its school year with online-only learning.
The district's school board made the decision this week as part of its plan to protect students from COVID-19.
The district's interim superintendent, Naomi Norman, says they're hoping to eventually transition back to individualized, in-person instruction for most of their students, especially ones in special education programs.
"In most cases, we do need to be within 6 feet of our students, in fact often actually holding or touching or supporting for the instructional component," Norman says.
Norman says the current plan is to start the school year on September 8th.
