Ypsilanti City Council Appoints New Council Member

Brian Jones-Chance
Council Member Brian Jones-Chance

The City of Ypsilanti has a new city council member.

City Council appointed Brian Jones-Chance to Ward 1 to fill the vacancy left by Mayor Lois Richardson, who became mayor in June after former Mayor Beth Bashert resigned.  Council member Jones-Chance term will end in November, but, between now and then, he wants to increase resident participation in city government and council meetings.

Council Member Brian Jones-Chance: I want to make sure that the citizens of ward 1 know when government meetings are going to happen, how to access them, how to access the agendas.

Jones-Chance, who is a local real estate broker, is also considering the possibility of running as a write-in candidate in the November general election.
