Washtenaw County Health Department Budget To Be Discussed Tonight

Washtenaw County

Allocating funding for the Washtenaw County Health Department will be a main topic of discussion during Wednesday's Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners meeting.

The board will discuss a $16.6 million health department budget proposed for the 2020/2021 fiscal year.  Commissioner Katie Scottsays that’s about $800,000 more than last year’s budget but it’s expected because of the additional funding that will be needed for COVID-19 response services.

Commissioner Katie Scott: Looking at this budget will be particularly illuminating for us and help us further the discussion about whether or not we need a public health millage in Washtenaw County.

Last month, the Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners decided to table a vote on whether a public health millage should be placed on the November ballot because they needed more time to discuss the issue.
