Ypsilanti District Library To Host Wikipedia Edit-A-Thon

Ypsilanti District Library

The Ypsilanti District Library will partner up with the University of Michigan Library later this week to host an Ypsilanti Wikipedia page edit-a-thon.

The goal is to make sure that Ypsilanti’s community and its cultural institutions are fully represented on Wikipedia.  Sam Killian is the community relations coordinator with the Ypsilanti District Library and says currently, there’s a lack of information about Ypsilanti’s history, such as how it played an important role in the Underground Railroad.

Sam Killian: We’re hoping that a lot of people will have this same passion of the city that we do and kind of come together and clean them up, and make us as well rounded and diverse as we know we are.

The event will take place from October 14th through October 21st and both the Ypsilanti District Library and the University of Michigan Library will provide support to anyone who wants to add to Ypsilanti’s Wikipedia page.  For more information, click here
