The Washtenaw County Health Department recommends that anyone who wants to spend the holidays with people who don’t live in the same household as they do should start quarantining soon.
Washtenaw County Health Department Spokesperson Susan Cerniglia says people should quarantine for 14 days before they spend a holiday at someone else’s house. That means not having face to face interactions less than six-feet for more than 15-minutes with others outside your household. Cerniglia says, in addition to quarantining, residents of a household should also still take other precautions when they visit a friend or family member’s house.

Even with these guidelines, Cerniglia says one of the safest ways to spend the holiday season is to only spend it with the people in the same household.
