The Ann Arbor Ypsilanti Regional Chamber says that as more and more people get vaccinated for COVID-19 in Washtenaw County, local businesses may see an increase in revenues.
Executive Vice-President Andy LaBarre says consumers may feel more comfortable shopping in-person and taking advantage of outdoor dining if they’ve been vaccinated. But even with the vaccine, LaBarre believes it will take some time for that comfort level to go back to where it was when the pandemic began.
Andy LaBarre: For consumers and for folks running and owning businesses, I would recommend they think of it sort of a, hopefully, the start of a transition back towards normal. But the pace of that transition really depends on collectively our level of adherence to the guidance public health professionals are giving us.
LaBarre says the chamber is serving as a liaison between local businesses and the Washtenaw County Health Departmentto inform business owners of COVID-19 vaccine availability for their employees.
