As of right now, Michigan is the first state in the Midwest to allow recreational or personal use of marijuana - not just for medical purposes.
It was approved in a statewide ballot proposal last month.
89.1 WEMU's Lisa Barry talks to Adam Rosenberg, founder of Green Wolverine, a University of Michigan student organization with the mission of promoting the legal aspects of the cannabis industry.
Rosenberg says yes, you can possess it, but you can’t really purchase it right now.
“It’s going to be a slow rollout as far as creating the supply chain for adults to be able to purchase it,” Rosenberg says.
Rosenberg says he expects there to be a lot of confusion for the next year or so, as people try to figure out how and where to buy marijuana for personal use in Michigan now that it is legal.
