AAPS Resumes Testing Student Athletes For COVID-19

Ann Arbor Public Schools

Ann Arbor Public Schools is resuming COVID-19 testing of student athletes today.

More than 150 students have had to quarantine or otherwise limit their participation in athletic programs since mid-March.

Superintendent Jeanice Swift says the district recently put all of its spring sports on pause, due to a surge in new cases.

“Our hope is that by taking this step now, that we can stabilize the situation and see a reduction in the number of cases,” Swift says.

Swift says, if it proves successful, the school still might be able to preserve the rest of the spring season and eventually allow those sports to resume.
