Saying the COVID-19 virus is still present and we need to do everything we can to prevent the spread, Dr. Joneigh Khaldun, Chief Medical Executive and Chief Deputy Director for Health and Human Services for the state of Michigan, talks with WEMU's Lisa Barry about where we are now both locally and statewide in dealing with the pandemic.

Michigan’s chief medical executive and chief deputy director for health and human services, Dr. Joneigh Khaldun, says the COVID-19 virus is still very present in the state and local communities and says in fact there has been an increase in cases compared to five months ago.  She says, "This is still a new virus.  We all need to be wearing a mask.  We all need to be protecting ourselves and not gathering and washing our hands.  The virus is still present, and we need to do everything we can to prevent the spread."

Dr. Khaldun says, personally, she limits most indoor activities outside of her home, and, with three younger children, she is not planning any large family gatherings for the upcoming holidays, due to health precautions
