Washtenaw County Department Of Elections Needs Poll Workers For November Election

Wiki Commons

The Washtenaw County Elections Department says they’re in need of poll workers for the November general election.

Currently, there is a particular need for poll workers on the county’s east side, which includes Ypsilanti and Ypsilanti Township.  Ed Golembiewski is the director of elections for the county and says they’re working with the Washtenaw County Office of Community and Economic Development to try to recruit more minorities to register to become poll workers.

Ed Golembiewski: Through distribution lists, through information shared at events and public meetings that are occurring.

Golembiewski hopes a recent campaign launched by NBA star LeBron James, that was created to recruit poll workers in black communities, will motivate more people to register to help with the election in November.
