Ann Arbor Art Fair

Heat is typically a factor during the annual Ann Arbor Art Fair.  But this year, strong storms had an impact as well.  WEMU's Lisa Barry talks with Maureen Riley, executive director of the Ann Arbor Street Art Fair, the Original, about the just-ended annual event.

With another annual Art Fair in the books, it will be a few weeks before exact attendance numbers are known as well as other outcomes.

It was a stormier than usual art fair, known for happening during one of the hottest weeks of the summer.

Executive Director of the Ann Arbor Street Art Fair...The Original Maureen Riley says there is more to consider when thinking about possibly changing the date of the annual Ann Arbor Art Fair.  She says the art fair world works on a circuit, and they have to fit in with other shows that attract the artists.

There was at least one injury, and some artists had their work damaged by severe storms that moved through during the fair.
Riley says even new construction in Ann Arbor can have an impact on the setup, sometimes creating a wind tunnel effect on the street where artists are set up.
