Washtenaw United: Memory Lane Foundation offers compassionate support in advancing dementia care
Dementia is ravaging. It steals from you. It robs from your family and friends. Still, there can be moments of joy. How we care for the afflicted is a work in progress. Joanna LaFleur is the founder of Memory Lane Foundation and is a dementia care expert with over 20 years’ experience. She joined WEMU's David Fair and took us through the process of creating a simpler approach to caregiving and providing dignity for a loved one with dementia.

Flickering light and the clickety-clack of 24 frames of film per second running through a projector have kept projectionist Frank Uhle company for decades. Inside the booth high above the audience, he has been witness to Ann Arbor’s cinema culture since the 1980s. Join Deb Polich, your "creative:impact" host, to meet Frank and get a sneak preview of his new book "Cinema Ann Arbor" before it hits the stands in June.

Washtenaw United: Destination Ann Arbor highlights local DEI efforts
There is increased focus on promoting and highlighting diversity, equity and inclusion efforts in Washtenaw County. In fact, Destination Ann Arbor has created a new series called, "Walking the Walk." It puts a spotlight on local businesses living the DEI promise , impacting the local quality of life and making the county a more attractive tourist destination. Destination Ann Arbor's Amy Karbo joined us with all the information on how "talking the talk" is evolving into "walking the walk."

Issues of the Environment: Ann Arbor moving towards great energy equity and resilience
Recent power outages in Washtenaw County have a good portion of Southeast Michigan outraged. Nearly a million lost power in the last two winter storms. Ann Arbor City Council member Jen Eyer joins WEMU's David Fair to discuss what the city will ask of the state legislature and the Michigan Public Service Commission and the increased interest in establishing a municipal electric utility in Ann Arbor.

#OTGYpsi: UMS to bring a week of interactive community arts to Ypsilanti's Freighthouse
The University Musical Society, or UMS, has a new goal of engaging the Ypsilanti community in the arts in their neighborhoods. The effort will kick off with a week-long program of music, art and dance coming to Ypsilanti's Freighthouse in April. The program will be filled with singers, dancers, graffiti artists, orchestral and African-inspired music -- all with performances that encourage audience participation. WEMU's Cathy Shafran brings all of the details with Concentrate Media's Rylee Barnsdale and UMS vice president of learning and engagement Cayenne Harris.

Issues of the Environment: Cultivating home and community food gardens in Washtenaw County
Food prices are kicking a lot of people right where it hurts…the wallet. Supply issues during the pandemic and inflation are sending prices soaring. As a result, more people are beginning, or returning to, home gardens. Stacy Mates is seed company manager for the Green Things Farm Collective in Ann Arbor.
