The annual FoolMoon public art and lighting event held in Ann Arbor had to pivot to an online experience last year, shortly after the start of the pandemic.  This year, it is "re-imagined" with an outdoor component meant to support local businesses with the theme "Shine Your Light A2."

Lisa Barry talks with event executive director Jennifer Goulet about what is planned for this year's FoolMoon event.

A combination of socially distanced, light-up art on the street and around the Ypsilanti area, as well as some online components, will be included in this year's ypsiGLOW event October 23rd.  Lisa Barry talks with Jennifer Goulet and Lynne Settles about the unique public art “light-up” event.

This would have been the 14th year artists, musicians, and local politicians paraded through the streets of downtown Ann Arbor amidst an array of giant, colorful, paper mache expressions.  But this year, due to social distancing to stop the spread of COVID-19, the in-person event scheduled for April 5th will not be taking place.

WEMU's Lisa Barry talks with the founder of FestiFools and FoolMoon, Mark Tucker, about another plan he has come up with to have a "Virtual FestiFools," so people have something to watch on their own.

Activating and engaging the creative talents of the community, the 4th annual ypsiGLOW is taking place October 25th.

WEMU's Lisa Barry talks with one of the originators of the light-up community event, Jeri Rosenberg, and event producer Jennifer Goulet.

It's not easy to describe exactly what FestiFools and FOOLmoon, which take place each spring in Ann Arbor, are all about.  89.1 WEMU's Lisa Barry talks with artist and organizer Mark Tucker and University of Michigan artist-in-residence Lavinia Hanachiuc about the annual public arts event coming up in early April.

In its third year, a night of lights, music, and energy is planned for downtown Ypsilanti.  “ypsiGLOW" takes place Friday evening, October 26th.  89.1 WEMU's Lisa Barry speaks with organizer Jeri Rosenberg and Kristen Klochko from Eastern Michigan University's Engage@EMU to talk about the lively community event said to be bigger and better than ever!

In the midst of some political controversies involving the future of Ypsilanti, a special arts event is planned for Friday to bring light to the city and help visitors and residents re-imagine what they see around them every day.

A new light-up street party called "ypsiGLOW" will be taking place in downtown Ypsilanti on October 27th.

The creators of Festifools and FoolMoon helped create the glowout block party for every age.

I spoke with Shary Brown, the president of Wonderfool Productions, and Adriana Zardus, the company's production coordinator, about how this event is intended to get the community involved on another level where people are creating the event themselves.
