Sundays Mean Music

Everybody has heard of fair weather fans. Those who jump on the bandwagon when things are going well and tend to disappear when they are not.

At WEMU, it's kind of the opposite. It is very easy to take radio for granted when there is no crisis, no catastrophe, no weather event.

You know we are here. And you want us here when it's really important to you.

On Sundays you want music. Lots of music. And that's what we have for you. Twenty hours of music; fourteen of which are locally hosted and produced.

So, today, on this glorious autumn Sunday, before you pick up the golf clubs or the rake, before you strap on the bike helmet or grab the canoe paddles, think about those other days; those gray, chilly, rainy, or snowy days when you turn on the radio and curl up by the fire. Those days when The Sunday Best transports you to a rent party or the Groove Yard evokes visions of the elegant jazz clubs of the 1950s. When 89.1 Jazz with Jessica Webster brings you the exciting current jazz scene in New York City and the Big City Blues Cruisetransports you to the steamy juke joints of the Deep South. Then From Memphis to Motown relives Detroit's glory days with some of the Delta mixed in.

That's a WEMU Sunday. And it deserves your support.

Before you go out to enjoy the best that Michigan has to offer on a picture-perfect Sunday, please make your pledge of support for live and local musicon the weekends at 1.888.299.8910 or wemu.org. Don't wait until the weather gets bad before you realize just what WEMU means to you. We can't wait that long.

Thanks from all of us at WEMU.
