Several hundred students sought treatment at the University of Michigan this week for what has now been confirmed as the norovirus by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.
U of M's chief health officer Dr. Robert Winfield told WEMU'S Lisa Barry that at least 200 students have reported symptoms and suspects the number of infected students to be much higher.
Dr. Winfield says the norovirus is highly contagious and easily spread. He is advising everyone to do a lot of hand washing for at least 20 seconds each time, which is just enough time to sing "The Victors," U of M's fight song.
